Workshop & Commissions
With over 80 years experience our team of Goldsmiths are highly skilled in all aspects of jewellery repair. From ring resizing, chain soldering, remounting an engagement ring, turning a ring into a pendant, refinishing worn jewellery, or setting your own stones into a new design, the possibilities are endless, No job is ever too big or too small.
One of the nicest things about your jewellery is that it is totally recyclable. Just because it's now out of fashion, or you've "gone off it" doesn't mean you have to leave it in a drawer never to be worn again. At Martin & Martin we can take just about anything that you have - be it a gold bracelet, a diamond ring or some other piece of jewellery, and bring it back to life by turning it into a new fashionable piece of jewellery that you can love all over again!
We were recently commissioned by a customer to make a ring that she could wear everyday , using some old jewellery she was no longer wearing.
We took the diamonds from 2 yellow gold rings and the white gold from an old broken bangle and made her this beautifully simple and stylish ring.
The ring itself is solid 9ct white gold with two rows of channel set diamonds, it is so elegant we are confident that this is one piece of jewellery that she wont ever want to relegate to the depths of her jewellery box.
Another recently completed commission to design a ring for a customer using a pear cut Ruby from a brooch and diamonds from some old rings. We started the process using CAD design to show the customer four different options, once she had chosen a design we brought the CAD design to life making the mount and setting her stones. The finished design was a beautiful 9ct white gold ring set with the ruby in the centre and her diamonds making up the halo surround.
We recently handmade this solid sterling silver gents signet ring, finished off with his family name hand engraved in Chinese on the top. This type of one off hand engraved signet ring starts from around £150.00
We were recently contacted by one of our customers who had previously had her beloved engagement ring repaired by another goldsmith, unfortunately for the customer it was a very poor quality fix and she was unhappy with the result as it no longer looked like her original ring.
After establishing the original design, it was apparent that unfortunately her original ring was un-salvageable. Therefore using the original 3 stones and some of her gold we were able to remake a ring that was as close as possible to the original ring, and most importantly of all, she loved.
